Welcome to the exhibition opening on Tuesday April 5th 5-7 PM!
Andi Balogh is a Hungarian photographer based in Espoo, she moved to the land of thousand lakes in 2009 after her graduation from the University of Debrecen in Liberal Arts. The nature and culture she met through northern metal music drove her to learn Finnish language and move to Finland. After a few years of living in north, Andi started to take photos more seriously. Her biggest inspiration is the northern ambience, the aesthetics and the unique feeling through nature enthuses her to create photos.
Under the Northern Sky is a collection of photographs Balogh has taken on her travels to Lapland and northern Norway as well as in her neighbouring forests and by the seashores in the southern Finland.
Through photography she interconnects the external nature with the inner realities emphasizing the deep connection with nature and the constructive force in way the northern atmosphere affects her. The northern landscapes and the mystical ambience as the highlighted parts of images symbolize the invisible but perceptible deep, inner and purifying spheres. The characters of the images strive to unite with these dimensions and pursuing the source.
Andi is enthusiastic about traveling and hiking for capturing the spirit of northern nature. By creating on location and utilizing herself as characters of images, her purpose is to convey more authentically the initiation mystic ether and presence which flows through. When the viewer is immersing into the image, it would as much be a healing process to the viewer as for the artist during creating.
My aim is to highlight the healing forces flowing from nature that many human souls need, especially today. To retreat into nature, to be present, and to allow these inner spheres to open up and lead us into our true selves.
In addition to creating her personal images, she is doing collaborations and commission works with other creatives.
