Eija Pokkinen's ink, charcoal and pastel drawings and Timo Pyhälä's stone sculptures, elves and earthlings, engage in a dialogue at the Laterna Magica Book Gallery.

Film director Risto Jarva (1934-1977) made two trips to Europe with his schoolmate Juhani Jauhiainen on a 125cc Vespa: in 1954 via France to Italy and in 1955 to Spain and Portugal. The third trip was made in a dilapidated Renault in 1959 via Yugoslavia and Greece to Turkey. These trips resulted in hundreds of photographs, from which the Risto Jarva Society has compiled an exhibition in the Tile and Cellar galleries of Laterna Magica.

Laterna Magica's summer exhibition features photographs by several photographers who have photographed Helsinki. The exhibition includes works by the following photographers: Jorma Hinkka, Martti Jämsä, Jaakko Kilpiäinen, Johnny Korkman, Antti Närhi, Sanni Seppo, Antero Takala, Tuomo-Juhani Vuorenmaa and Tapio Wilska.

The art exhibition consists of photography by Bathory Legion and glass artworks and paintings by Väkevä Voima. Bathory Legion is a photographer specializing in urbex and underground photography, and the exhibition will see Rome from a chthonic perspective. Väkevä Voima's glowing glass artworks are juxtaposed with dark-toned paintings.

The exhibition by photographic artist Jenni Höök in the Book Gallery considers ADHD and the meaning of the diagnosis. The exhibition highlights the people behind ADHD. Erkki Luoma-aho's (b. 1947) photography exhibition in the Tile and Cellar galleries tells us through photographs of rock paintings and drawings what life was like in Africa 6,000 – 10,000 years ago. Exhibition features images from 9 countries: Egypt, Sudan, Libya, Algeria, Morocco, Ethiopia, Somaliland, Tanzania and Namibia. Primavera! Oh lovely spring! Welcome to the opening of the spring exhibition by Toimela print workshop on Tuesday May 6th from 5 pm. to 7 p.m.

Petra Giacomelli is a Finnish artist who has lived in Italy since 1983 and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. Giacomelli's exhibitions are often thematic or have strong links to literary sources. Artist books, wordless stories realized in old glued-on books, have been her signature works for years. Photographic artist and researcher Leena Saraste (b.1942) has photographed in various parts of the world during her long career. In the early 1980s, Saraste was one of the first female photographers in the Palestinian territories, Syria and Lebanon, among other places. In 1983, Saraste compiled her photographs into a journalistic photo book, Rakkaani, Palestiina (Tutkijaliitto, 1983).The small-scale exhibition will revisit the everyday life of Palestinians in the 1980s, which was overshadowed by uncertainty and violence. However, the images also reflect hope and warmth.
