Siimes - Majatuksia -exhibition presents photography by Liisa Takala from 2020-2022. The main focus is on tree houses and playhuts and structures that were constructed by children. Welcome to the exhibition opening on Tuesday September 13th from 5-7 PM.
Liisa Takala describes the beginning of the photography project: "In spring of 2020 when the corona virus spread children started building little huts and structures in my neighborhood of Lauttasaari in Helsinki. I started documenting those structures and their builders in the small forests around Helsinki.
I was fascinated by the feeling of shelter offered by these structures and by the light that sifts through the branches and twigs. Architecture photography is well regarded within the history of photography. The pictures capture environments that are built by adults and meant as permanent monuments. Less emphasis is placed on smaller buildings and structures and their makers, especially if they are children.
