On Looking

I am a painter from Helsinki. My first exhibitions in the 1980's were abstract colour paintings. During those first ten years I noticed that I express myself better when working in front of the scenery. I have gotten to know new places by painting in several countries in Europe and in China and Kenya. Those different countries remind me first and foremost of the lighting conditions which were unfamiliar to me. The paingins in this exhibition are done in my studio, where the view from the window is towards the nearby construction site.
