Minna Pinola’s photography exhibition "In the Presence of Hope" celebrates the privilege, uniqueness, and unpredictability of life through intimate portraits. Life is light and shadow, and it happens today. In this project, Minna Pinola has interviewed and photographed 12 individuals who live their lives with illnesses without a cure and bravely share their experiences of when an incurable diagnosis enters life as an unwelcome guest.
The backdrop for the images is Finnish nature, linking the subjects to the cycle of nature and life. Amid life's twists and crises, the beauty of nature grounds us and places us in context, as part of something greater.
Minna Pinola, originally from Raahe in Northern Ostrobothnia and now based in Espoo, has studied photography at the Helsinki Design School and is also a professional in written communication. By combining her strengths, she offers a multidimensional encounter with the inner worlds of her subjects.
