Shades of Engagement: Georgia O’Keeffe and the Erotic Landscapes of Maui is a poetic meditation on the artist’s relationship with landscape. Unconventional, mesmerizing and deeply reflective, it explores sacred landscape and art as if spoken by the earth, waters and skies, imagining how the mystical landscapes of Maui shaped Georgia O’Keeffe’s artistic vision, as she shaped the landscape. The talk is a capsule of the book of the same name, to be released November 2024. Read more on the publisher's site here.
Georgia O’Keeffe and Spirituality of the Sexually Charged Landscape probes the deeply mysterious connections among Nature and Spirit, Mind and Eros. Through the spirit of Georgia O’Keeffe, this talk presents an opportunity to go more deeply into the mantra, “Landscape is all about Sex,” with the potential for unencumbered, highly charged transactions with spirituality. Not a sweetened, sanitized metaphor of Earth; rather a trajectory of provocative questions about sexuality. Curious how it unfolds: naked, unbridled, a gritty container of worms and holes. A capsule of the chapter in the book published by Brill, Exploring Sexuality and Spirituality: An Introduction to an Interdisciplinary Field.
Joining Dennis in this presentation of poetry and discovery, guaranteed, you will never look at landscape the same way again.
